This morning I woke up and listening to a podcast about a healthy lifestyle; from eating the right food with the right amount, having enough exercise, and feed food of spirituality for my heart and soul. Guilty, I am not always living this lifestyle, but as I grew up I have more interest in this. I am restless by nature 🙂
I remember I had a conversation with my Mum one day a while back that I feel life is so similar to driving a car. We interact and compete sometimes with other car either we heading to the same or different destination. Thinking about that convo with Mum and listened to the podcast earlier, I got to think; our body is just like a car in that street/highway. The driver which is us represent our soul, the car we drive represent our body and the street/highway represent life.
As most drivers know, we must expect the unexpected when we drive, similar to life, it is unknown, what we know is only our destination. Google maps/Waze application can give you direction on how to get to your destination, but there is no exact tool that will tell you what will happen during your travel to reach your destination. You don’t know if the car next to you will make a slight left and almost hit you if you didn’t hit the brake of your car immediately.  We have to be ready and prepare on what the street/highway will throw at you.
In order to be ready, we have to have a good reliable car. A car with a precise braking system, comfortable suspensions, rapid acceleration speed, good fuel economy, good size to maneuver traffic, and some technology to help you navigate your way (camera- especially for me- I am terrible backing off the car). What happens when we drive “the not so reliable car”? It could create discomfort, in-efficiency, even danger not only for yourself but possibly others.
I think the car as a medium, medium to transport the driver to the destination that driver wants. It represents our body. If we didn’t have a strong healthy body, it will create discomfort, inefficiency and even danger (for yourself and possibly others). Car needs regular maintenance, so does our body, good rest, enough exercise and pamper time for our-self are some of the to-do lists. Car needs fuel, same with our body, what type of fuel? Think about it, what have you been feeding your body? If you giving premium fuel to your car will you feed less to your body? And last, the driver need knowledge/wisdom and clarity of mind to make decision while driving or in this case food of mind and spirituality, I am learning to meditate nowadays, to quite my mind and more in tune with my true self. Quieting the mind is not that easy, it needs practice and self-discipline (BIG TIME!!!!)
So many types of diets and exercise option out there right now but we have to choose which one that will work with our body. I want us to think more about this, I am not suggesting specific food/exercise, but I want us to think about the importance of taking care of our body, mind and our spirit. So what car are you? As for my choice, I am a BMW :)…
Stay healthy and strong, and beat the highway!
With so much love, Bombon

I love this analogy. I love a BMW. It is fun to drive, reliable, safe and sporty. A bit is high maintenance ( I mean the car is… haha. But it is worth it).
