The theme for today is family.
Yesterday my supervisor and my Level 2 supervisor asked us to dress up similar to our Level 3 supervisor (Director of the group), yes many ‘supervisors” . Eric comes to work dress up with jeans and a blue shirt, every day! It looks like he is wearing a uniform, so many other colors but the blue shirt is his choice, he must really likes blue. Mmmm … OK, who am I to critics his sense of dress-up?
Today the whole team wears a blue shirt and blue jeans, yes some of the blue colors were slightly off here and there but everyone making effort to wear “the blue”.
As I look at our picture that is posted at Facebook (Yammer) of the inside website company, it got me to think that how different each individual on our team and it shows on our interpretation of “the blue” dress up. YET with so many differences; strength, weakness, quirkiness, character, etc, we still family. My level 2 supervisor made a comment one day” when I am deal with Drilling they look and act like a roughneck- and when I deal with Completions (part of the discipline I am categorized) they look like a trendy hipster”. I smile at that comment because the statement is true, we are strikingly different, yet somehow the team functions well. We delivered results, we are cordial and respect each other. So it works!!
In our real family, it consists of different individuals with their own strengths and weakness, character, etc. No one… No individual is perfect, they will irritate you somehow in your interaction with them because you “interact” with them, they annoy you, they make you laugh, they make you miss them when they went away, they ask your forgiveness or maybe not, they call you only when they need you. Regardless…. Above all those mentioned, they are still your family. Maybe that’s why God made unconditional love, it is absolutely needed, and to be used- exercised when dealing with the family, I still do want to kill some of them sometimes 🙂
And in LOVE; it is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts always hopes, always perseveres.
